Summer is Here, Get Ready to Move into the Palace!

The Royal Residence, Buckingham Palace holds many events and ceremonies during the year, but from July 20th until September 29th it is open to all to explore.

With this short time to tour, it is important to do it right, so we’ve created a short guide to make sure you don’t miss anything important!

  •  The State Rooms

Make sure to visit the 19 state rooms that double as housing for guests and official ceremonies like the Royal Wedding of William and Kate!

  •  Fine Art

Art to look out for includes paintings by Van Dyck, Rubens, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Poussin, Canaletto and Claude and sculptures by Canova and Chantrey.

  • Grand Staircase

The staircase came with the remodel of the palace that King George IV commissioned and displays great works of bronze casting, great place for pictures!

  •  Throne Room

Most Recognizable as the backdrop in photos from the Royal Weddings and is also used as a ballroom, though its main purpose is to house the thrones for important ceremonies.

  •  Gardens

39 Acres of land that houses a 3-acre lake, the rose garden, and over 350 different types of flowers to compliment the 200 trees.


Special to Summer Opening 2019

Queen Victoria’s Palace
This Summer marks the 200 th anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria and will be celebrated with a special exhibit that highlights her role in making the palace what it is today! When she moved into Buckingham Palace it was merely a home as much was unfurnished and it had been uninhabited for 7 years. The exhibit includes an immersive experience in the ballroom to allow visitors to see it the way that Queen Victoria intended it to be. Objects from the Royal Collection also help to illustrate how the palace came to be. This exhibit is only open 20th July until 29th
September.


Leonardo Da Vinci: A Life in Drawing
Located: Queens Gallery, Buckingham Palace
The 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo Da Vinci is a celebration of his work and influence. The exhibition is being held in the Queens Gallery and through the 13th October. Thisexhibition is the largest of Da Vinci’s work in 65 years as it includes over 200 of his greatest drawings. The pieces included were carefully selected to reflect the versatility of the subjects he covered. Visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to really experience Da Vinci and enhance their visit to the palace!
