Christmas Advent Calendar

Time:
1 Hour

A crafty way to get excited and countdown for the holidays this year.

Materials:

  • Gift wrap and tissue paper (I’ve used Victoria Eggs Festive Fun and Christmas Delights gift wrap, parcel wrap and white tissue)
  • Ribbon/string
  • Scissors
  • Sticky tape
  • 24 gifts for the family

Instructions:

  1. Wrap the 24 gifts (ideas for gifts could be playing cards, sweets, Christmas toys or decorations) in different wrapping papers and number each gift with the date it should be opened.
  2. Tie the presents with string, leaving a long piece on one side.
  3. Hang the gifts to a coat hoot, banister, door, or branch.

Heart Tree Decoration

Time: 10 minutes

A simple craft to add to your Christmas tree or decorate around the home.

Materials:

  • Paper (could be from a magazine, wrapping paper, etc.)
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Stapler

Instructions:

  1. First, cut the paper into 2 cm and 25 cm long strips. Put the strips of paper together, fold them in half and insert a loop of string to the crease to create the hanging loop.
  2. Staple the center fold and bend into a heart shape.
  3. If you want to make them different sizes, pull the paper through your fingers to make the heart shape smaller or bigger. When you’re happy with the shape, staple the end and cut off the excess paper.

Festive Fun Paper Chain

Time: 15 minutes

A great activity to do with family or friends while also adding a festive touch around your home.

Materials:

Instructions:

  1. Cut the paper into equal strips depending on how large you want your chain to be. In the photo, I used 2 cm x 15 cm strips.
  2. Bend the first piece of paper into a circle, overlapping the ends slightly and stick together using the glue or sticky tape to make a full circle.
  3. Repeat folding each piece of paper but make sure to fold the circle through the last circle you made in order to create the chain.

A quick and easy craft to decorate your home with while getting ready for the holidays.

Materials:

  • Card (I used sheets of brown recycled card)
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Hole punch

Instructions:

  1. Draw outlines of festive shapes (stars, trees, stockings, etc.) on the card in pencil. After outlining, cut them and punch a whole in the top of each shape.
  2. Use the ribbon to thread through each hole on the top of the shape.

Origami Star Decorations

Time: 10 minutes

A crafty yet beautiful decoration to add to a tree or garland.

Materials:

2. Pierce a hole in the top of the star and thread through string to create a hanging loop.

Make your holiday cards personally crafted this year.

Materials:

  • Card (white or brown)
  • Paper (gift wrap, magazine, etc.)
  • String
  • Sticky fixers (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Instructions:

  1. Cut the card to your desired size (Mine is 15cm x 15cm when folded) and fold your card in half.
  2. Draw a circle on the back of your chosen paper (use a round glass or any circle stencil if you need assistance or you don’t have a compass). Cut out the circle and affix the sticky fixers to the back to create depth, alternatively glue the card directly to the paper.
  3. Add string/ribbon to create a bauble and personalize with text

A unique way to display your cards when your struggling for space on your windowsill.

Materials:

  • Christmas Cards (I used Victoria Eggs Christmas cards)
  • Ribbon
  • Mini wooden pegs (you can also use paperclips)

Instructions:
1. Measure your ribbon to the desired length of your display. Cut the ribbon and tie it around a hook or attach to a door or window frame. Pin the Christmas cards you receive to it using wooden pegs.

Time: 10 minutes

Make your family and friends joyful with a personal and creative gift wrap.
