Liberty has long been a symbol of creativity, craftsmanship, and timeless British design, so being invited to create bespoke artwork for such an iconic brand felt both surreal and deeply meaningful.
Part of what makes this collaboration so special is Liberty itself. Founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, the store quickly became a destination for those seeking something different, an alternative to the more traditional, rigid styles of the time. The Tudor revival building on Great Marlborough Street, constructed in the 1920s from the timbers of two old ships, is as iconic as the products it houses. Walking into Liberty feels like stepping into a different world. It is theatrical, inspiring, and beautifully curated, with each room telling its own story.
Last year, I had the incredible honour of designing both of Liberty’s advent calendars, chocolate and traditional, an opportunity that marked a real milestone. Liberty has always been a place I’ve admired from afar, a store that represents the very best of thoughtful design and storytelling, so to contribute to its legacy felt extraordinary. Seeing the finished pieces on shelves, knowing how beloved these calendars are, was a moment of genuine pride.

We’ve had our products stocked in Liberty since our early days, and the excitement around that has never faded. It is always wonderful to discover my designs sitting on the shelves in such a beautiful setting. There is something enduring about Liberty, the way it blends heritage with fresh creativity, that continues to inspire.
The original advent calendar design embraced the magic of winter. It depicted Liberty during Christmas, glowing warmly with garlands and twinkling lights. A snow dusted Routemaster bus travels through the scene, while Father Christmas flies across a moonlit sky. It is a nostalgic, festive snapshot of London, filled with warmth and wonder. Once the bespoke advent calendar designs were approved, the response from Liberty’s buyers was incredibly encouraging. It sparked an idea to extend this artwork into a broader, everyday collection for spring and summer.

In contrast, the resulting spring summer collection builds on the same intricate, narrative driven style. It captures the essence of a London summer, with Liberty at its heart, surrounded by flourishing flowers, a classic red Routemaster bus, and a lively street scene. The design celebrates the city’s unique character, its heritage, charm, and unmistakable energy, while maintaining that signature Liberty elegance.

I then created a collection of everyday pieces including a mug, tea towel, postcard, and egg cup. These items now sit alongside our London collections in store, offering customers a small piece of that Liberty magic to take home. Since launching in summer 2025, the collection has received numerous repeat orders, which has been incredibly rewarding. It is a clear sign that the designs are resonating with customers and finding a place in their homes.
For me, Liberty has always held a sense of magic, a place I dreamed of being part of. To now have my designs stocked within its walls is something I am incredibly proud of. It is more than just a collaboration. It is the realisation of a long held ambition, and a reminder of how powerful design can be in connecting people, places, and stories.
