Golden Apple Pie

Whether you might be baking for your Mum this Mother's Day or baking together, have an enjoyable day! This is delicious with some fresh cream or ice-cream.

Golden Apple Pie

Serves 4-6


8oz Short-Crust Pastry

i.e. 4oz margarine or butter add 1oz sugar

8oz plain flour

Egg yolk & water


4 medium size cooking apples grated

Rind of 1 orange and a little juice

1oz melted butter

1 egg (omit if using the microwave)

3 level tbsp of castor sugar


1.Partly cook the apple and add the orange rind and juice

2.Mix butter eggs and sugar and blend well

3.Roll pastry and line a 9” pie plate leaving enough pastry to top the pie with lattice

4.Spread the bottom thinly with apricot jam or marmalade

5.Pour apple mix into the base

6.Roll remaining pastry, cut into strips and place to form a lattice design

7.Bake in the oven for 40 minutes @180c
