Victoria's Month In Design - August: Sunshine, Samples and Street Art

The month kicked off with a two-week family holiday in Spain, split into four parts: staying with a friend on his farm, exploring Seville, taking in the breathtaking views of Ronda, and finishing up in Órgiva, a tiny place in the middle of nowhere, overlooking the mountains (also the setting of the famous book Driving Over Lemons). It was the perfect way to recharge.

The Edinburgh Collection Arrives

This month we received our Edinburgh samples back ahead of next week's photoshoot, and they are looking amazing. The keyrings were the first pieces to arrive and have definitely surpassed our expectations. The feedback so far has been brilliant.

Jane Austen's House & Our Candle Manufacturer

Ella and I visited Jane Austen's House on our way to see our candle manufacturer. It was lovely to see it, though I was meant to bring the Jane Austen bag along for photos and completely forgot, so we may end up using a couple of mock-up images instead!
The candle factory smelt as wonderful as you'd hope and imagine, and watching all the detail that goes into the production of every line was really impressive. It was lovely to see the team there and talk through some exciting opportunities for next year.

Windsor Estate & Farm Shop Collection

Three progress screenshots of the Windsor Estate and Farm Shop toile illustration in Procreate

We finished the draft design for the Windsor Estate and Farm Shop collection this month. We were lucky enough to have a guided tour there a few months ago, and since then we've been working behind the scenes on an illustration for a repeat-pattern toile design. The draft has now been signed off, and we'll be starting work on the rest of the collection this month. It's been a really fun one to work on, pulling in all the statues around Windsor Park, the plants, and everything else, and it's shaping up to be a lovely design with a lovely story behind it.

Kingston Street Arts Festival

Three photos from the Kingston Street Arts Festival: a street mural, a craft table with markers and drawings, and a child spray painting a wall

We also made it to the Kingston Street Arts Festival, which is always a date booked in our diary. This year my daughter and nephew even got to have a go at creating their own graffiti, which was great fun.

Looking Ahead to this Month

  • The Edinburgh photoshoot and the launch of the Edinburgh collection on the website and Faire
  • Our London Christmas Tale products are now all in stock and live on the website. Pre-orders have already started shipping
  • Finalising the Windsor Estate collection
  • Plus plenty of other behind-the-scenes projects in the works
While I was away, I actually finished the first draft of a new design for Christmas 2027, but I'll tell you more closer to the time!

Lots going on, more soon!
