Today is officially known as Happiness Happens Day! Created by the Secret Society of Happy People in 1999 under the name “Admit You're Happy Day†this day has been aimed at spreading joy and to persuade others to look at the cheerier side of things. With it being summer, and this great weather it's not hard to feel happy. But just in case something has you down, here's some great activities to do during the British summer.
1. Go to a park!
London is dotted with great parks where you can paddle boat, have a picnic or just soak up the sunshine. Renting a bike is cheap and easy, and also a brilliant way to explore London. Most parks are pet friendly so bring your furry friend for a picnic and enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.
2. Happy hour with mates!
Nothing is better than spending the afternoon having a chin wag with your mates. Whip up a British favourite, summer pudding, and the quintessential Pimms jug and laugh the afternoon away while Bar-B-Queing in the garden.
3. Give Back!
The Secret Society of Happy People wanted this holiday to be a reminder to spread joy to others. What better way to make yourself happy than by making others smile? It has been scientifically proven that happiness is contagious so whether it be volunteering at a local shelter or helping a friend in need, nothing is more rewarding than knowing you made a difference and made others happy.
In the grand scheme of things, what isn't there to be happy about? There's only one more day till the weekend, our sale is going on through August, and above all, it's summer!
