Victoria Eggs was founded by its namesake (yes... that is her real name!) in 2011. The idea came whilst Victoria was living in Sydney and drawing a tea cup and saucer one day. She realised that something so simple could make you smile, tug on your heartstrings and transport you back home in a flash! On her return to the UK Victoria moved to London and so began the journey of Victoria Eggs.
Victoria is influenced by her surroundings; from the food she eats, places she visits, city life and childhood memories. To Victoria there is more to her homeware and gifts than the design, it's the emotion attached the design that inspires her. If the design strikes a chord, makes you smile or evokes a special memory then it becomes much more than a design, it becomes something you will treasure.
Victoria's all for painting the town (and your walls) red with the thrills of British life, splashing seaside memories about in your washing up bowl and bringing some nostalgic chic to your contemporary home with a tug of an apron string or a hearty cushion cuddle.
Victoria graduated from Birmingham Institute of Art & Design in 2005 with a BA in Fine Art. After a year's adventure travelling the globe she began working within the creative industries; greetings cards design, branding and communications and fashion label Ben Sherman. Whist in Sydney, Australia designing T-shirt graphics for Ben Sherman which celebrates 60's mod & British culture she spent hours looking, thinking about and reworking iconic British images. She realised how many wonderful British icons the UK has and how many of them she cherished; hearty British grub and Sunday lunches with my friends and family, a good cup of tea, sticks of rock at the seaside and giant red London buses!
All these things evoked strong emotions and she realised that something so simple could make you smile, tug on your heartstrings and transport you back home in a flash no matter where in the world you were.
When Victoria returned home to the UK she decided to work on her own designs, explore further what it is that makes Great Britain such a unique and inspiring place to live or visit. With the help of her screen printing sister-in-law she printed the first T-shirts and tea towels in a freezing studio in South London and soon began selling them on her stall at Spitalfields market in London.
Her fun and playful home wares and gifts, made in Britain, are now available in over 100 stockists in UK and overseas, including Selfridges, Paperchase, Steamer Trading and Whole Foods.
"I have worked with Victoria Eggs, since seeing her at the very first Top Drawer she exhibited at. Over this time, we’ve built up a great working relationship, stocking her unique merchandise. Her company have been at the forefront of originality, creating some amazing designs that are really eye catching. In 2013 we worked with Victoria on a bespoke range which sold extremely well in our gift shop. We continue to stock Victoria’s products and will continue to do so for years to come. I could not recommend her highly enough."
