Birmingham’s Town Hall & Symphony Hall

Birmingham Symphony Hall Screen Print Victoria Eggs

In 2014 Victoria was approached by Birmingham’s Town Hall & Symphony Hall to produce a specially tailored design for the city’s world-renowned music venues. The jointly run institutions were enthused by the fact that Victoria is a graduate of Birmingham’s Institute of Art & Design.

The Town Hall & Symphony Hall design includes an A-Z of of musical terms, instruments and facts about the venues. The range includes hand-pulled screen prints, greetings cards, mugs, bags, coasters, aprons, tea towels & oven mitts in 2 colour combinations - red & charcoal and blue & charcoal.

The buildings themselves are by no means short of intrigue; having been opened by the Queen in 1991, the Symphony Hall is a 2,262 seat modelled on the Vienna’s Musikverein that led to its establishment amongst the finer concert halls in the world. The Town Hall meanwhile, was the first of the monumental town halls that would come to characterise Victorian cities and, after undergoing recent renovation, remains the oldest working concert hall in the world.

Victoria holds a fondness for Birmingham that remains undiminished by life in London and, after being awarded alumni of the year in September 2014 by Birmingham’s Institute of Art & Design, is doubly pleased to have been commissioned by the city’s most impressive locations. The design is available now in the Symphony Hall gift shop.
